MUMBAI: Seven people were injured and 11 others went missing when a fire broke out at a pharmaceutical company in Maharashtra’s Raigad district on Friday, according to police.

Around 10.30 a.m., the event occurred at the Blue Jet Healthcare Company in the Mahad MIDC area. The initial explosion started a fire, which led barrels of chemicals on the property to explode.

Initially, reports claimed that the fire started prior to the plant explosion.

Workers were present inside the facility at the time of the incident, and seven of them suffered severe burns that required immediate hospitalization.

During the search and rescue operations, it became clear that at least 11 people who were on the premises at the time of the tragedy were missing. Because of the impact on chemicals and other flammable goods housed on the site, the fire caused substantial obstacles to the search and rescue operation.

Ten fire trucks were dispatched to tackle the blaze, and they were successful in extinguishing it. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

The police and fire departments are both actively conducting search and rescue efforts, with the help of a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team.
